Hey there!
I’ve just finished reading (well, re-reading actually) Bob Proctor’s “You Were Born Rich” and thought I’d share my thoughts. You know me – I love anything that helps us grow and develop, but I also believe in keeping it real!
So, what’s this book all about?
Written in the 1980s (yes, that era of big hair and even bigger dreams!), it’s all about unlocking the wealth and success that Proctor believes is already within us. Think of it as “mindset meets manifestation” – with a generous sprinkle of positive thinking thrown in.

The Good Stuff
As someone who’s built and sold businesses, I can tell you that mindset really does matter. Proctor talks about:
• How our thoughts shape our reality (something I’ve seen firsthand with countless clients)
• The power of habits and repetition (oh yes – success leaves clues!)
• Visualisation techniques (I still use these when planning business growth)

The Science Bit
Here’s where it gets interesting! While Proctor was writing about “vibes” and “energy”, he accidentally stumbled onto some stuff that modern neuroscience now backs up:
• Our brains can change (it’s called neuroplasticity – fancy word for “you can teach an old dog new tricks”!)
• Visualisation actually works (just ask any athlete)
• Habits are powerful (my clients hear me bang on about this all the time!)

The “Take with a Pinch of Salt” Bits
Look, I’m all for positive thinking, but:
• Just “thinking rich thoughts” won’t magically make you rich (trust me, I wish it did!)
• Some of the science is a bit… let’s say “creative”
• It can oversimplify some pretty complex stuff
What I Love about It
Despite being older than some of my training materials, this book still has value. It’s:
• Easy to understand (no PhD required!)
• Motivating (we all need a boost sometimes)
• Great for mindset shifts (something I see many businesses struggle with)

My Verdict Is it perfect? Nope. Is it still worth reading? Absolutely!
Think of it as your friendly introduction to personal development – take what serves you, leave what doesn’t, and remember that real success comes from action, not just positive thinking.
Rating: 3.5/5 stars ⭐ Perfect for: Anyone starting their personal development journey who needs a confidence boost and doesn’t mind a bit of 80s optimism!
Remember folks, as someone who’s been in the trenches of business development for 25 years, I can tell you that success is a mix of mindset AND action. This book helps with the first part – I’ll help you with both! 😉
